Further south, the bold vintage kadas of Karnataka and the temple-influenced forms of Kerala carry their own distinct lineage. Many pieces are worked using techniques like rava, thapi and granulation, passed down rather than taught. Each carries the mark of its region, which is exactly why no two are the same.
Original, or made to wear, your choice
Much of what you'll find here is vintage: pieces worn a generation or more ago, carrying the marks of it. We leave those as they came. Collectors and anthropology enthusiasts want the original, unaltered, and we agree, the value is in what a piece is, not in tidying it up.
For those who want to wear these pieces daily, we adapt some, a clasp added, restrung on cotton cord, elements combined into something you can actually put on. When we combine pieces, we keep them within a single region. A Kutch element pairs with a Kutch element; we won't blend a Rajasthani form into an Odia one to make a sale. The tradition each piece comes from stays intact.
