Handcrafted tribal Katesari silver choker from the state of Uttar Pradesh.
As it is a valuable ornament the Katesari choker was worn by the women mainly on festive occasions and marriage ceremonies. Each lower unit of the Katesari choker contain a foil-backed clear-glass "stone" with an auspicious red dot (tikka) in the centre. The dot is meant to denote the centre point for one's spiritual destiny and serve as a medium for personal sanctification in the Hindu mythology.
