When Jewellery Finds Its Moment: Dr Neha Christopher's Citizenship Story

There are pieces of jewellery we wear for an outfit.cAnd then there are pieces we wear for a moment that changes our lives forever.

When Dr Neha Christopher attended her Australian Citizenship Ceremony, she wanted her outfit to reflect every part of who she is. Instead of styling our Mother of Pearl neckpiece as a necklace, she reimagined it as a headpiece—a choice that was entirely her own. It was elegant, unexpected and incredibly meaningful.

Some of our favourite Aham moments are the ones we never design for. We create jewellery to be worn, but our community continually shows us new ways to make each piece their own. Neha's styling reminded us that jewellery has no rules—it simply becomes part of your story.

For Neha, becoming an Australian citizen wasn't about leaving one identity behind and embracing another. It was about carrying her heritage proudly into a new chapter.
The Mother of Pearl, with its soft iridescence and timeless beauty, felt like the perfect companion for that journey. Worn across her hair like a modern heirloom, it framed one of the biggest milestones of her life.

As a dance movement therapist, educator and researcher, Dr Neha's work is centred around connection, healing and belonging. Those values quietly echoed through every detail of her citizenship look. There was strength in its simplicity, confidence in its individuality, and beauty in the way tradition was interpreted through a contemporary lens.

Looking at this photograph, it's difficult to tell where the jewellery ends and the memory begins. That's what we hope every Aham piece becomes. Not just something you wear.
But something that witnesses your life's most meaningful moments.

At Aham, we often say our jewellery carries stories. Thanks to women like Neha, we're reminded that sometimes those stories become part of history- your own.
